Mary Buckham finished her first novel in eighth grade as part of a homework assignment. Even though the A she earned was in most part for the illustrations she included, the writing bug had taken hold and never let go. During her college career, when she was earning credits toward a degree in International Relations with a minor in Sino-Soviet history, Mary filled her creative well by attending Universities in Seattle, Hawaii, Florence, Italy and Washington, D.C. She traveled extensively throughout the u.s., Europe and the Middle East during the same time period before settling down to raise a family and begin a  career in International and Credit Card banking. Leaving the world of Finance shortly after her youngest child was born, Mary turned her attentions once more to writing.

In short order Mary became a free-lance article writer, selling hundreds of articles to local, regional and national publications. She quickly became a Contributing Editor to several different monthly magazines and eventually editor of The Inland Northwest Family Magazine. During this same time Mary taught writing courses through her local Community College, had a non-fiction travel book published and start her first novel.

Long before the publication of her first book in 2004, Mary expanded her teaching endeavors to include a variety of online courses geared toward the beginning novelist. By the time Mary’s second book came out in 2006, Mary had established herself as a sought after speaker and teacher of the writing craft, both online and in live presentations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Currently she juggles these engagements with her role as president of a virtual Manufacturing Company that is producing safety tools in the U.S. and China and slated to be on the world wide market in 2008.

Mary continues to speak speaks to writers across the country and gives online courses throughout the year.  For more information on Mary, her novels and her workshops, please visit www.MaryBuckham.com

Feedback from Mary’s workshops:

Your class is one of the best I’ve ever had. You have given me more to think about in my writing than anyone else-including all the Writer’s Digest courses that cost at least a leg, if not an arm too. I feel I can APPLY what you are teaching me and it’s fun to watch movies or read books and say, ah ha! Ilove it. You have given me more insight into storytelling than I’ve ever had. – Cheryl Shimamoto, Denver

“Your templates have helped me to lose that squishy feeling that somehow my characters will all work! They’re beginning to feel defined and focused. Thank you, thank you!” Rebecca McIntyre

“Your classes and templates really ensure a character’s position and motion in plotting an intriguing work. I’ll be using the templates as a framework for all future manuscripts.” Kathleen Pickering, Florida
